SEARS PEYTON GALLERY
A gallery relocating to the Chelsea district in Manhattan required both intimate spaces for private clients as well as an open and light filled gallery for the public. A central office volume acts to separate the two distinct spaces but through openings allow for views through the entire space . Vertical frosted lay lights allow for natural lighting without the view of adjacent properties for a focused inspection of artworks. Painted sheetrock walls and bare concrete floors provided a neutral material palette. Walnut slabs detail points of interaction/transaction at the office volume.
